Knott’s 2019 Boysenberry Festival

Sharing is caring!

This weekend, we had the opportunity to experience the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival! It is something that I have always wanted to experience due to growing up with Knott’s Berry Farm and just loving their Boysenberries!

Side note, did you know that Knott’s Berry Farm is actually the birthplace of THE Boysenberry? The more you know!

With that being said, I wanted to take a moment and share with you our recent experience at the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival because it is currently going on from now until April 28th, which means you only have a short period of time to head over there and eat your way through Boysenberry Heaven!  Per usual, I went ahead and researched the festival prior to our visit. I read up and found a lot of information about the tasting card option that Knott’s offers and learned that it would be the smartest purchase if you want to fully immerse yourself in the festival. The tasting card provides you samplings of delicious one-of-a-kind boysenberry items at select locations for $35.00. This would provide you 8 cards to use at 14 locations throughout the festival. We ended up purchasing the tasting card and chose the following items to enjoy!

Knott’s 2019 Boysenberry Festival

Boysenberry Elote

I normally think of elote as something savory, so I was kind of skeptical when selecting this tasting since Boysenberry adds that sweetness to it. Surprisingly, my Husband and I enjoyed it and it opened our eyes to a whole different kind of elote.

Boysenberry Jerk Chicken Wings

My Husband is a huge wing fan, so he was super excited to see that Knott’s had a Boysenberry wing tasting. Perfect combination of savory and sweet and the only thing my Husband wished was for more of that BOYSENBERRY SAUCE to dip the wings in! YUM!

Boysenberry Habañero Baked Mac and Cheese

As mentioned in other post, I am a HUGE Mac and Cheese fan! I am also a big spicy food fan so I had HIGH expectations for this Mac and Cheese tasting. Knott’s again did not disappoint and I do wish I could replicate that recipe.

Boysenberry Chili in a Boysenberry Sourdough Bread Bowl

It was a busy weekend day, so we actually sat down next to a couple who had room at their table when we got this tasting and they asked us to tell them how it was. After tons of “YUMS” came out of our mouth they actually decided to go wait in line and get it for themselves. The chili was great and the boysenberry-colored bread was neat and intrigued my Son! This one did not make our Top 3, but it was so delicious it definitely would make my Top 5.

Boysenberry Sausage in a Bun

Full disclosure, this one is not just in my Top 3, this actually was my personal Top 1! HOLY DELICIOUSNESS! If you just go into the park to buy just ONE tasting, you need to just go and purchase this one! Delicious!

Boysenberry Jambalaya with Chicken and Sausage

This tasting was a good one to share and really filled us up, but definitely did not make the top 3! My Husband really liked it and ended up finishing it up! If you are a fan of Jambalaya, I would suggest trying it.

Boysenberry Pulled Pork Tostada

Great take on a tostada! It was like ordering a Mexican Food dish with Móle.

Boysenberry Waffle with Maple Boysenberry Cream Cheese Syrup

The boysenberry syrup on this one was delicious. I actually would have purchased this syrup in a bottle if I was able to.

Our Top 3!

  1. Boysenberry Sausage in a Bun
  2. Boysenberry Habanero Baked Mac and Cheese
  3. Boysenberry Jerk Chicken Wings

One other treat that my Husband found was a Boysenberry Macaroon, which he bought to share, but myself and our Son inhaled the rest!

There also was really neat Boysenberry Festival merchandise throughout the park.

There is an entire section of the festival where local vendors/businesses come to showcase and sell their merchandise; it sort of felt like a huge farmers market, which I LOVED! My personal favorite was this company called Daffodil Gems who sells handmade bath and body items as well as décor and gifts. You can check them out here.

Lastly, we want to thank our dear friends Shannon & Dave as well as Sarah Grace for the day! Also a special shout out to Sarah Grace for helping me demolish that delicious Boysenberry funnel cake we decided to eat at the end of the day!

Overall, the festival is such a family fun experience that you should enjoy for yourself! Remember that the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival is only here from now until April 28th, so make sure you head over to the park to experience it with your family!
