DIY Valentine's Day Wreath

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I thought it would be a good time to share another fun craft! Last year, around this time, I was in a craft store, and noticed all of the Valentine’s Day décor. On the walls they had wreaths, which caught my eye and made me suddenly realize that I HAD to have a Valentine’s Day Wreath on my door. When I went to pull down a wreath that I loved, I caught eye of the price tag of $150.00! Yah…. That immediately made me put the wreath right back where I found it. Why, you ask? Because I knew I could make it (and I know you can too)! I headed over to my favorite app, Pinterest, and looked for inspiration. I then called the craftiest person I know, my Mom, and asked her to help! She came up with the idea of a “yarn wreath” that was Valentine’s Day-themed. So, I decided to take on that project. My Mom then decided that she wanted to make something a little different then a circular wreath, in this case a sign for the house, more specifically a decorative sign for her front door. I only ended up spending $30.00 on all the crafts for my wreath and again like the Christmas Wreath that I made with my Sister, it is something special that was able to handcraft with a personal touch to hang proudly on my door. My Wreath
- 1 Large Foam Circle
- 1 Spool of thick yarn (in whatever color you choose)
- Valentines Day plush decorative accents
- Valentines Day metal sign
Mom’s Door Hang
- Wooden window frame
- 1 Small Heart Foam
- 1 Small Box of Felt hearts
- Wooden Love Sign

Tools Used:

Hot Glue Gun
Scissors

This craft is so easy and self-explanatory and the beauty of it, is that you truly can make it your own and be as creative as you want to be. I started off with the idea of a yarn wreath, decided on decorations for the wreath and then found materials both online and at my local craft store.

We also had a little helper for this craft!

Yarn Wreath “How To”

Tie Yarn around the foam shape on one end. Hold tight with one hand and start wrapping. I cut long pieces of yarn at a time, so that it would not get tangled. Make sure that you keep the knots on one side of the wreath, so that you can hide it when you hang it. I would also make sure that it is very tight so it gets that pristine tight cut look you are looking for.
After the base of your wreath is ready, then take that hot glue gun and go WILD! Just keep in mind, less is more!
Let the glue dry and hang that beauty up and ENJOY!

What I love most about this craft idea, is that you can really make a yarn wreath for every single holiday! You just need to find little décor objects to work into each piece! On St. Patrick’s Day, you can do pots of gold and rainbows. On Easter, you can do eggs and bunnies; Fourth of July you can make it Red, White and Blue! Really the sky is the limit! Enjoy!!
