As some of you may know, I have been on a 10-year discovery journey in regard to my health which recently led to my diagnosis of Hashimoto’s Disease. In the last 90 days, since being diagnosed, I have done countless hours of research, read books around health and food and went on an elimination diet to really learn about my body and the affects that food has around that. I have also been in and out of my Doctor’s office, following up on progress with blood tests, my weight loss and overall how I am feeling. During this journey I have lost 30 lbs, gained a ton of energy and am starting to finally feel like I have myself back. As I was finishing one of my most recent Doctor’s appointment, informing my Doctor about how well the elimination diet worked for me and that I was so proud of my weight loss, she recommended that I look into a food sensitivity test to really narrow down what my body is sensitive to when it comes to food. That is when I found the company Everlywell, an American-based company that offers at-home lab tests for many different purposes, but importantly for me, a company that can help me find out what foods I am most sensitive to and should eliminate.

If you have been a reader of mine for a while now, you know that I am a research fiend and try to learn as much as I can about something before writing about it. With that being said, prior to choosing Everlywell, I did do my research and what connected me to their brand was their founder’s story; her health journey and ALL the testing that she did to research what was wrong with her. It definitely hit close to home and made me excited to learn more about the test; how it would potentially help change my health journey and be part of me gaining my life back. After experiencing Everlywell now and based on the results changing what I ate, I know can truly say that this company has changed my viewpoint on food and overall has changed my life.

Top 5 Reasons Why Everyone Should Take a Food Sensitivity Test:
- EverlyWell is straightforward, easy, quick and to the point
- From the moment I checked out their website, I was impressed by how user-friendly and easy to follow it was. Their website is clean, provides clear navigation and the test is transparent and direct. Along with with easy-to-read instructions, it also provides images that walk you through the steps on taking the test and sending it back.
- You cut out the middle man
- You have no idea how great it was not to have to work with Doctors, lab tests and nurses to get my tests. It feels like just to get my bloodwork back from my Doctor’s office it takes 2 weeks and another co-pay just to learn what was wrong with me. EverlyWell cuts out the middle man and works directly with you delivering the results WITH explanations on next steps moving forward.
- Detailed Explanations
- I was shocked when I received my results. I found out that I had a severe sensitivity to Cow’s Milk which shocked and actually relieved me. I was so happy to finally understand which foods contributed to my pain, depression and bloating and the relief to now, know that I can change it. I was also happy to see that not only did EverlyWell tell me my sensitivities, they also let me know the hidden sources of Cow’s Milk and foods I should pay attention to. Here is an example of the explanations:
- About Cow’s Milk
- Heads up: this doesn’t mean you’re lactose intolerant—just that you may have a sensitivity to cow’s milk. IgG antibodies react only to proteins, and intolerance to lactose (a sugar) can’t be diagnosed by this test.
- Hidden Sources
- Protein powder, processed foods, baked goods, creamers, au gratin dishes/white sauces, cake mix, certain soups (bisques, chowders, and creamy soups), sour cream, yogurt, custard, pudding, whipped cream, some lactose-free milks, kefir, half and half
- About Cow’s Milk
- I was shocked when I received my results. I found out that I had a severe sensitivity to Cow’s Milk which shocked and actually relieved me. I was so happy to finally understand which foods contributed to my pain, depression and bloating and the relief to now, know that I can change it. I was also happy to see that not only did EverlyWell tell me my sensitivities, they also let me know the hidden sources of Cow’s Milk and foods I should pay attention to. Here is an example of the explanations:
- Knowledge is Power
- Seriously, this alone should be the reason to take a food sensitivity test. Knowing what you can and cannot eat gives you power over how you feel and your overall wellbeing.
- Life Changing
- I know it can be dramatic to say that something is so impactful that it changes your life, but I can honestly say that this entire health journey I have been on has changed my life and that EveryWell was a part of that journey. Knowing what foods I react to and what foods I can and cannot have has been critical on my health journey and I HIGHLY recommend Everlywell.

My Results:
As mentioned earlier, the main, shocking yet understandable, discovery was my sensitivity to cow’s milk, eggs and yogurt. The moment that I read the results, it all made sense to me and yet I never, EVER thought about specifically those items being a food sensitivity of mine. Since I discovered this, I have tried to have cow’s milk just to see if I could detect a reaction and within 20 minutes of consuming it, my stomach expanded and I felt immediately sick. You have no idea the relief I felt being able to pinpoint exactly what it was that made me feel bloated and sick. I always thought it was because I ate too much or because I was depressed; whatever reason I could summon up in my mind. I have also noted, with my 30 lb. weight loss that the fat in my face has reduced significantly as well as the fat in my neck. For the last 10 years, I have carried a lot of fat in my neck and have literally had Doctors, after a dozen tests on my thyroid and neck, been told that I just have a lot of fatty tissue. Now, 10 years later, I have found out that it all traces back to Hashimoto’s disease. Because of this, I have taken action by incorporating an elimination diet to learn about my food sensivities and have noticed a significant loss my face and neck fat. As a disclaimer, I am not a Doctor, so while I am unable to show medical data to reinforce this, the results have been eye-opening.

Overall, I can tell you that I feel like a completely different person and now have a clear direction moving forward when it comes to my lifestyle and how I want to live my life. I HIGHLY recommend Everlywell to everyone, because not only can it tell you what foods you should and should not eat, it can change your entire perspective on your health in general.
