10 Benefits of Drinking Water

Sharing is caring!

Prior to becoming a Mom, I never really thought about the benefits of drinking water and took my hydration seriously. Sadly it took me becoming pregnant and being responsible for another human being to actually take it seriously. When I was first pregnant, my OBGYN stressed the importance of staying hydrated throughout my entire pregnancy.

Thank you to Aquasana for kindly sponsoring this post entitled 10 Benefits of Drinking Water. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.

After finding out how dehydrated I actually was, which could have been one of the many causes of my fatigue, she outlined all the benefits of drinking water. From that moment on, I became hydration’s biggest fan! I went home, purchased a brand new water tracking water bottle and googled what a person of my height and weight should drink per day to stay hydrated.

Two kids later, I have remained big advocate of the health benefits of drinking water and how it can completely change the way you look, the way you feel and your overall wellbeing. I stepped up the game in my water intake and researched the importance of not just drinking water, but drinking good quality water.

Most of the time with my family, if one of them is feeling under the weather, or just “blah” my first question to them is are you drinking enough water. Good hydration can be a free resource and simple aid to living our best life that a lot of us throw to the waste line and forget about, I was definitely one of those people, especially in my younger days. I used to think that water, was just something that we needed to survive, like air, but I didn’t know the actual benefits of drinking water and what it could bring to us if we stay properly hydrated.

10 Benefits of Drinking Water

Flushes Out Toxins

Did you know that your kidneys are there to get rid of certain waste products? With that said, if you do not drink enough water, your kidneys will not have the proper materials (water) needed to do their job!

Boosts Energy Levels

Dehydration leads to fatigue because it impacts the flow of oxygen to your brain which in turn makes you more tied and less alert. If you stay hydrated and keep drinking your water, you start your day off right and keep your energy levels up!

Boosts Your Immune System

Like I mentioned in the previous benefit, water helps carry oxygen to your body cells, which results in a properly functioning immune system. It also helps remove toxins which, if not removed, could have a negative effect on your immune system.

Improves Your Mood

Since our brains are mostly water you can imagine the importance of staying hydrated! Water helps improve concentration and cognition which in turn helps balance your mood and emotions.

Promotes Weight Loss

Drinking water helps in the process of weight loss because it replaces those calorie-ridden beverages like soda and juice with something healthier. It also makes you feel full, so you eat less during the meal.

Maintains Regularity in the Digestive System

Drinking a healthy amount of water “keeps things moving” within our digestive system and I don’t know about you, but I feel MUCH better when everything within my body is doing what it supposed to do!

Boosts Skin Health and Beauty

Staying properly hydrated can aid in skin wrinkling because your skin contains lots of water. Drinking a healthy amount of water hydrates skin cells and plumps them up, overall making your skin look youthful!

Good for your Joints

Like everything in your body, your joints need water, specifically moisture in order to remain flexible. Drinking more water is VERY good for your joint health.

Drinking Water Helps in Fatigue

Dehydration is not just a cause of many other health issues it also is a huge cause of fatigue. Staying hydrated aids in keeping you more alert and awake!

Minimizes Sugar and Salt Cravings

Chronic dehydration could lead to symptoms of mineral depletion which could correlate with adrenal exhaustion causing sugar cravings, salt craving due to your body telling you, you need minerals. Sadly, most of us don’t realize that our sugar or salt craving is coming from not drinking enough water, specifically water that is rich in minerals and we end up reaching for chips or sweets that will make us even MORE dehydrated.
